[Doctor Who Fic]

In the finale of Doctor Who this season there was a one off line by Eleven where he said that if he wanted to he'd go help Rose Tyler with her homework. I wanted fic immediately. Today I was bored at work and this was spawned. It's just a little bit of a scene that could be expanded upon later. Possibly:

“Hello, I'm your new tutor.”

Rose looked up at the thin man in the tweed suit and bow tie. She blew her bangs out of her face and her eyebrows shot up to her forehead.

“School sent me,” he explained further.

“You're wearing a bowtie. My grandfather wears bowties.”

“Bowties are cool. Besides that's what tutors wear. Bowties. Sometimes a fez.”

“Do they? Never had a tutor.”

“Well now you do. Whaddya studying then?”

“Aren't you supposed to know? School sent you, right?”

“Yes. Yes, school sent me. General sort of tutor. Tutor of everything. You've got homework. I can help. Rather lucky for you, that is.”

“What's your name?”

“Smith. John Smith,” he answered as he sat down in the chair next to her and begin flipping through the variety of books stacked on the library table in front of them.

Rose was obviously still skeptical of the mad looking man in the bow tie claiming to be her tutor but with the way her math grades were plummeting she couldn't really afford to turn away any offered help. Besides, he was cute in that awkward, nerdy sort of way. Not her usual type but at fifteen her type wasn't exactly defined just yet.

“Alright then. Know anything about Algebra, Mr. Smith?”

“Doctor Smith and yes. Everything there is to know about Algebra.” He tapped the side of his head to indicate it was all there. “All the x's and y's and Quadratic things.”

“Aren't you a bit young to be a doctor? Doctor of what?”

“Little bit of this. Little bit of that. Doctor of everything you might say and I'm not as young as I look.”

While hopes pinned on a school girl crush were taking a dive, her skepticism and curiosity were on the rise.

“Alright then. Let's have it. How old are you? Got to make sure my tutor's qualified, yeah?”

“65.” The answer was a short, quick and certain burst but at the look of shock on Rose's face his mouth twisted, brow furrowing.”82?” The second 'guess' at his age was phrased more as question than the first. Rose's jaw dropping clued him in that he'd gotten that wrong. “28.” This was more decisive and more accepted by the teenager sitting next to him. “Yes. 28. That's right. I'm 28. Now that's settled, shouldn't we get started on that Algebra?”

I started giggling when he began making up his age, but this whole thing was pretty darn hilarious. Rose is going to learn some weird math, that's all I'm saying.

Hee! I'm so glad there was giggling. I believe him making up his age was my favorite part as well.

She so is. In fact, I imagine she'll end up with a good deal of detention because she'll argue that the Doctor's way IS the right way and the teacher is wrong. Which of course she's right but STILL it's not like her teacher will appreciate that.

Wait until she gets to history or literature and he starts telling her the way things really are/were/etc
