Vacation!

Last Friday we took a little spring break vacation up to Austin and San Antonio. We had so much fun. Austin was just a one night deal because while I love the city and the people and the atmosphere it's not as kid friendly when you go on a vacation as San Antonio is. Anyway in Austin we ate at this amazing BBQ place that literally had their fire pit dug into the floor. Actual wood burning fire under the grill with sausage hanging up all over it to smoke. I think it was called Salt Lick. Amazing food. We also went to see the bats come out from under the bridge. The BBQ place was way out in the middle of nowhere so we got to do some driving and see Austin from the car. So pretty. So many outdoor activities for people to do with beautiful weather. Lots of parks, places to hike and walk and bike. The vibe in the city is just really cool too, very laid back. After the bridge and the BBQ, the kiddo stayed in the hotel room playing XBox while Tony and I went down to sixth street. That was fun too. We ended up in a place called Darwin's Pub that I'm pretty sure was confused because they had a Jesus fish on their shirt, not the Darwin fish with legs. The first band we saw had an Irish flair and they were really good. The second band was just kind of loud and generic. We left to go walk down sixth street again. They'd closed it off by that time and people were just wandering around the street. It was nifty. We didn't stay out too late because of the kiddo but we got to do a little of the night life so that was plenty for us.

The neatest thing about Austin I think was the live music everywhere. We were there during the South by Southwest festival but there's the impression that there is live music everywhere all the time rather than just during festivals. While I'm not a music connoisseur, I really love live music so that was awesome to me. And some of it was good and some of it was just okay but it was still very cool.

The next day we went to San Antonio and saw the Alamo, ate dinner at Pappadueax and went back to the hotel fairly early. The next morning was Sea World and that was SO much fun. We did rides, we saw shows and we fed sea lions. We spent most of the day there before finally heading back to nap, change and go take Dustin to Laser tag (i swear it's the one thing he specifically requested to do--we don't have one here and he's played in OKC before) We all played 2 games of laser tag. The first time I did okay. I got 'found' a lot because I couldn't quit laughing every time I'd get shot. Tony said he could hear me giggling through the whole maze. The second time I did awful in part because Tony shot me ELEVEN times! Seriously. They give a print out telling you how many times you were shot by whom and who you shot. Anyway it was seriously a blast and such good exercise. I think if we had one here we'd go at least once a week or something and play. After laser tag we went to eat at Dave and Busters. That was a blast as well. I think Dustin wanted to move in. The food was pretty good but the games were a ton of fun. We stayed until they closed down then went back to the hotel to sleep and head out in the morning.

All in all, one of the best vacations we've had.

This one is about weight, exercise, food and the way I've been feeling about it all in general. So please, mute if you wish.

Spare you all )
